Light Party Sangria

Light Party Sangria

Light sangria has become a popular party drink around the world. The light refreshing taste is perfect for any gathering.

Wine Cocktails

Wine cocktails trace back to the early Greeks and the Romans. They vary from burgundy to light chablis and go with everything from a barbeque to holiday dinners, and brunches.

Light Party Sangria

A pinot grigio or a sauvignon blanc works best for this Sangria which is the perfect summer pairing for a patio party. Apricot brandy and peach schnapps are good choices for liquor.

Choose Light Wines

Light-bodied white wine, sparkling light wine, full-bodied whites, and others can be used depending on what is available. Even a Rose or White Zinfandel would be acceptable. However, you might want to vary the fruit choices depending on the wine you use. This recipe is based on the previous suggestions of pinot grigio and sauvignon blanc.

Ingredients

Thinly slice the following:

  • 4-6 medium seeded peaches
  • One cup strawberries
  • Two lemons
  • Two oranges
  • Two limes
  • Put all the above in a deep container and cover with the following:
  • One cup of apricot brandy
  • 1/2 cup peach schnapps

Directions

Let the mixture set for one hour.

  • Add 2 – 750 ml bottles of white wine

Refrigerate 4-5 hours before serving.

Serve in a tall collins glass. Add some of the fruit to the bottom. Add ¾ cup Sangria per serving. Slice one orange for garnish.  Fill with club soda and garnish with sliced fruit if desired.

Makes approximately 7 servings. Double amounts for a larger crowd.

Variations: Figs and honey are a great fall variation. Slice one cup of figs and include them with the other fruits while omitting the strawberries. Heat 1/4 cup honey with 1/4 cup water and add to mix with the white wine.

Make it Special, Light Party Sangria

Enjoy! This light party wine is perfect for garden parties, patio brunches for guests, pool parties, and other get-togethers where heavier drinks might not be the preference.

A garden theme with cut flowers, lawn games, tea sandwiches, and edible flowers for garnish make an elegant yet light-hearted layout for your guests.

Small conversation-style groups throughout the space will function quite well. Try draping a tree stump with a flowery tablecloth for a more casual effect.
