Tex Mex Sangrias

Tex Mex Sangrias

Texas-Style Sangria

Tex Mex Sangrias are a blend of Spanish and Mexico giving you a Texas-style drink to tingle your taste buds.  Tex Mex is a very popular cuisine in Texas and neighboring states. Sangria originated in Spain and is a blend of brandy, red wine, and a touch of sugar. Our Tex-Mex version includes Cointreau for sweetness instead of sugar. You may substitute another sweet orange liquor or mixer but we prefer the full-bodied taste of Cointreau.

Sangria was introduced to the United States in 1964 when it was brought to the world’s fair in New York City by Alberto Heras. Sangria is traditionally made with a full-bodied red wine (such as a Spanish rioja).

Tex Mex Sangria and Brandy

For our Tex Mex Sangrias, we recommend a low-tannin fruity red or rose wine such as Moscato, Beaujolais, or Burgundy which works best in this dark Sangria and eliminates the need to add sugar. A good Brandy is what makes Sangria. It doesn’t have to be top dollar but don’t scrimp on this one
